Davao Cacao Now Exported to Japan, Singapore

A Davao-based cacao producer is now expanding its reach as it adds Singapore and Japan as new export markets.

Dante R. Muyco, marketing director of Cacao de San Isidro Inc. (CSI) Trade Ventures, said although current exports are still in small bulks, the move is a positive step towards its expansion plans.

CSI Trade Ventures is among the pioneer cacao players that export Davao’s home-grown products overseas. At present it is exporting 500 metric tons per year to Europe. Muyco declined to mention the quantity of exports to Japan and Singapore.

“We encourage other cacao players for expansion and to go on exporting because bigger market is there,” he said.

CSI Trade Ventures is operating in a 4,000-hectare cacao producing area with some 500 farmers in San Isidro, Davao del Norte.
