Davao City doesn’t just claim top rankings, it also has this habit of consistently hanging on to it.
In a press release by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Davao City is among thirteen Philippines cities and municipalities which consistently topped performance rankings for the past three years.
This is indeed a welcome news as the city begins to celebrate its yearly Kadayawan Festival which highlights the natural beauty of the city. Adding the exemplary performance by its local officials and well-managed city administration.
According to DILG secretary Jesse M. Robredo, the 13 top performing local government units (LGUs) are:
- La Union
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilagan, Isabela
“I extol these local governments for their unwavering commitment in scaling up and maintaining the highest standards of public service delivery in their respective localities. Their shining examples serve as an inspiration to others to strive hard in the performance of their mandates,” Mr Robredo said.
Local governments are being assessed and ranked based on five indices with one as lowest and five as highest, in the following areas:
- Administrative governance,
- Social governance,
- Economic governance,
- Environmental governance
- Fundamentals of good governance
