ELYANNA Nenita “Pie” Dayanghirang, one of the best spikers to emerge from Davao City, will be seeing action in the much-awaited 75th season of the UAAP Juniors Conference in Manila.
Dayanghirang, a former three-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) awardee in major volleyball competitions in Davao and Mindanao, is known for her killer spikes, calculated receives and serves. She was a dependable team captain who led the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) girls team to many championships in the region and represented the Davao Region to the Palarong Pambansa.
One of her most memorable showing was when Dayanghirang helped Ateneo de Davao bag the gold medal in the girls volleyball of the Mindanao Children’s Games in Davao City back in 2008. She also won MVP honors in the tournament to underscore her excellent volleyball skills.
Dayanghirang, now a third year high school in the University of Santo Tomas, was recruited by the coaches of UST when she played with other Davao City spikers representing Mindanao region during the Shakeys V-League National Finals held in Tacloban City last 2010. She will be playing as the first libero for UST.
