‘No Breathing’ Korean Film Partly Shot in Davao

Davao has become a pleasant place not just for tourists to visit, but apparently for films to shoot as well.

And mind you, we are talking not just about local film outfits, but the revered Korean movie industry. No Breathing (노브레싱 Nobeureshing) is a South Korean film to be released late 2013 has chosen Davao as one of its venues for shooting. The city “will get a 15-minute exposure”, according to Art Boncato, regional director of the Department of Tourism (DOT).

The movie is about two swimmers portrayed by Lee Jong-suk (Secret Garden, Prosecutor Princess) and Seo In-guk (Love Rain, Reply 1997) whose characters are bitter rivals in the pool and in love.  Kwon Yuri of Korean pop group Girls’ Generation plays love interest of the two men.

The film was shot in the city two weeks before the 2013 Kadayawan celebration.

Boncato hopes that the city’s exposure to the film will translate to more visitors from the Korean tourism market. Other Davao venues where the film was shot include the Marco Polo Hotel and nearby Aldevinco Shopping Center, the Pearl Farm Resort in Samal Island, and the Davao del Norte Sports Complex in Tagum City
