Davao City will finally have the chance to host big sports events as the construction of P250-million Davao City Sports Complex in a 20-hectare property will soon commence.
Third District Representative Isidro T. Ungab, chairman of the commitee on appropriations at the House of Representatives said the project has been included in the General Appropriations Act of 2015 and the release of fund is guaranteed.
The sports complex will be built in a 20-hectare lot within the premises of the University of the Philippines-Mindanao campus in Mintal.
City Administrator Jesus Melchor Quitain confirmed the availability of funds, and “it’s just a matter of implementing the plan and building of the sports complex.”
First phase of the construction already up for bidding includes the stadium (P100 million), indoor gym and multipurpose building (P50 million), and the road leading to the complex (P50 million).
Likewise, processing of bid documents for track oval, lighting and fixtures and outdoor sports (P50 million) is now underway.
